How can I check if Sata Drive is working in 3.0GBps mode?

Hi

I have just installed my new Samsung Spinpoint SATA drive, how do I
find out if it has been connected using SATA 3.0 rather than SATA 1.5?

What's the difference - the drive can only do around 0.07GBps anyway!

You cannot get the theoretical limit on any drive. Unless you are using
huge files, running a server farm, accessing databases with millions of
entries, blueprints in real-time, 3d rendering, etc, you don't need SATA
3Gbs.

98% of computer users never even max the buffer on ATA100.

The 300 is just the theoretical speed of the interface ...calculated on its
own.
My understanding Re: SATA 2 is that it does improve performance
when the Hard disc is getting full .

Actually having said that, I might be wrong - I've just remembered about
NCQ. I think NCQ is only supported in SATA II. If your drive does NCQ
(Native Command Queing) then it might be worth you googling round this
subject for a few minutes.
