How can I change the background color of browser web pages?

I used to be able to change the background color of pages like the CNN
newsite from its normal white color to, say, a light gray. This makes it
easier on the eyes. I did this through the "Internet Options/General/Color"
dialog box and unchecking the "use Windows colors" box before choosing my
own color from the palette. Now this doesn't seem to work anymore. I get
the same response from other computers. Is there a work around, or am I
doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Barry

In internet options click on the accessability button and tick
"Ignore colors on web pages" under formatting as well as what you
are already doing.

Hi Barry,

Probably the CNN site has changed and they have hardwired the background
colors on their site. There are 2 things you can try to stop this

Internet Options>General tab>Accessibility button - Ignore background colors

or on the same page 'Format documents using my style sheet' - if you have a
stylesheet that has the background and foreground colors you want.

Oh there is another trick. You can choose a High Contrast color scheme for
your desktop (though this may be less appealing to your vision preferences)

Regards.
