Hi,
How can I change the name that apears at the top of the page when I print
out an email form Outlook? This is the name at the very top of the page, not
the from or to line.

I am using Windows XP with Outlook 2003

Thanks in advance,
Lenny

Go into the e-mail account (tools>e-mail accounts>select account>change),
and change "your name" at the top. It prints whatever is in there, but
remember that that is also the name people will see when they receive mail
from you.

Thanks Mark but that doesn't seem to be correct. For example I have 4
accounts coming in on my computer and when I print any email from any of
those accounts my name in lower case always prints out at the top. However
on all of these accounts I have never used lower case lettering for my name.
In fact on three of these accounts I haven't even used my name but they
still print out with my name at the top.

On the computer that this is causing a problem on they only have one account
and the wrong name is being printed out. There used to be another user using
that computer and Outlook and it is his name that is appearing although his
account has been deleted and all trace of his name removed from the
computer.

Cheers
Lenny

I'm not sure then I'm afraid - I tried it here in OL2003 by adding a "1"
after my name in that field - before adding it it printed my name alone,
after adding it it printed with the "1".

Do you have anything at all in that field? I wonder if, with a blank field
it picks up the name from somewhere else?

I don't think it's this, but do you have any headers set up in File>Page
Setup?

I also wonder if it could be anything to do with profiles - I only have one,
but maybe you have some legacy from an old profile?

Sorry I can't help further - MVP's??????

Mark

If I add a field in the Header under the print setup tab for the user name
then I get the user name as you mentioned and it is what ever is in the
account. This name sits above the one that I am talking about though and is
also in normal font. The name that I am having a problem with is bold and
then there is a bold line directly below this that runs right across the
page.

I've got the same problem. I would love to know how to change or
eliminate that name, and I've tried all kinds of things.

Isn't there an MVP who knows how to do this? Thanks.

I've tried to get this to stop, but I guess it's impossible.

We're stuck with it. There's literally no way to stop that name from
printing out at the top of each of your printed emails from Outlook.

but that name didn't appear there by magic. Maybe it is the name that is
used when Office is installed (I don't remember if this is the case with me)
If it is then there must be a way that the Office User name can be changed?

Just a thought.

Dear Lenny,

As I mentioned in the post below:
This task can be solved with www.outlookprinter.com, too.

you can't remove the name and it uses the name from your default account.

I don't hink that that is correct. I have changed the name on the account
(the only one set up) and the name at the very top of the page still stays
the same.

It is. You may have to restart outlook (or the computer) for the change to
be seen. Or create a new profile with the name you want displayed.
