I'm reading that XP PRO with SP2 (which I have) is Bluetooth ready in
some fashion. Is there a walkthrough somewhere that'll tell me how to
get it working please? Do I need a Bluetooth card for Bluetooth, like
you need a sound card for audio or something? Or is it integral, like
when you have onboard audio?
Thanks for any help.

You would need to upgrade to Windows 98SE
for Bluetooth support. Since the upgrade to
Windows 98SE is no longer available, I would
suggest upgrading to Windows XP Home Edition.

He could try finding 98SE on eBay. But they need to make sure they are
purchasing a 98SE CD and not a setup disk. Look carefully at the description
and the feedback links.

But do I need it for both or just the 98SE machine please? Does not
the XP Pro SP2 machine already come enabled?
Well of course you do. The whole point of bluetooth connection is from a
bluetooth device to bluetooth-enabled computer (or bluetooth device to
bluetooth device).

What are you actually trying to do? What is your end goal? If you just
want to transfer files, why not:

1. Use a usb thumbdrive
2. Set up a local area network

Too much hassle for small files and they aren't big enough for big
files
2. Set up a local area network

Jeez, I used to have one and I don't want to have all the wires. So I
thought I'd bluetooth them. Is this a case of a dongle each, like you
can get off ebay?

I have no idea. I Googled for "set up bluetooth lan XP" and got various
sites. One of them is:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883259

Try Googling around for variations on the theme and see what you can
find.

Sorry I was unable to help you.
