Hello

We have been given some Windows 2000 PC's from head office but someone has
forgotten the Administrator password. We can however log in as normal
users. What is the easiest way to either find the Admin password or blank
it out so we can reset it?

Logon locally and run the sysprep utility. This will strip all SIDs and upon a reboot you
can add the PC back into the Domain with your Domain Administrators account and password.

These PC's are in a workgroup, not a domain. So cannot logon locally. Can
only login with a user account.

If you can not logon with administrative rights then your only recourse is to wipe it and
install the OS from scratch.

Considering that they are used PCs that wouldn't be a bad idea as there may be proprietary
information on the PC that the recipient should NOT see.

If the drive is FAT32, or you have access to NTFS Pro,
you can simply delete SAM from winnt/system32/config.
