How can I avoid Welcome screen?

I have a physically secure, one-user PC with one user account and no
pass-word required. Until yesterday (Patch Tuesday) it would boot directly
to the desktop for the one user. Now I get the welcome screen and have to
"choose" from the one available user account the one I want. I would rather
be able to boot, go get some coffee, and come back to a fully booted, running
computer (like I could until yesterday). How can I get that behavior back?

Go back to Windows Update and install any offered patches for .Net 1.1.

Otherwise:

Configure Windows to Automatically Login (MVP Ramesh) -
