can someone please tell me where / if i can customise the size of desktop
(and / or folder) icons? i have xp pro

i see that winxp supports up to 128x128 icons, (according to Axialis Icon
Workshop) but how do you actually view them at that size? the best i can
manage is to view folders as 'tiles' and thats only 48x48 or some such

thanks in advance

You can certainly do this - but only if you're using the Windows Classic
interface.

awww bums
that kinda removes the point of being able to create windows xp alpha icons
in a range of larger sizes doesn't it

You can customise XP themes to a degree in the same way as previous
versions of Windows allowed or the classic theme allows: Display
Properties/Appearance/Advanced.

I've customised: icon size & V&H spacing, Windows title text & size,
Highlight bar colours, Desktop appearance etc. You can't change the
major theme colours using this method, although many XP themes allow
these changes under the main Appearance tab. Same applies if using
StyleXP.

You may need to refresh you desktop, uncheck/recheck Align to grid or
just reboot for the new icon spacing to take effect. I changed my
vertical icon spacing to remove a large gap between the bottom row of
icons & the taskbar.

You know, a few days after I posted I decided to see what can, in fact, be
changed, and you are quite correct. The Luna interface can be adjusted "to a
degree", but not nearly as much as the Classic interface.

I played around a bit before posting my last reply. I changed the Icon
text font & size - now the text is much clearer. This setting does
change more the just the desktop icons; it also effects Explorer views,
OE's Thread pane & no doubt in other unexpected places as well.

There is one element that appeared 1st in W95, called Palette Title,
which doesn't seem to do anything under even the classic theme, never
did get to the bottom of what it was supposed to change.

In Display/Properties/Appearance/Advanced, when you click to change
a color, the resulting Palette dialog box has a title bar.

Ah yes, PSP8 uses palettes. That's one of my long standing queries
answered, so thanks!
