how can a microsoft keyboard not work...

hi...we have just upgraded out computer so that we can use
and install xp onto it....but we have encountered problem
after problem. right now, my husbanc has jumped the cmos
to try and start from scratch, and we are still have at
least one major prob.....the keyboard is not recognized by
xp! how can a 6 month old microsoft keyboard not be
recognized!? help!

Hardware does fail, you know. Try a different keyboard.

If he reset the bios to default and if you have a USB keyboard, the bios may
now be set not to detect the USB keyboard properly. Did he make note of what
the settings in the bios were before he made a radical change to them?

Also, setting the bios back to the defaults is not necessarily the correct
settings for XP. You may need to go over all the settings, not just the USB
related ones, to make sure everything is set properly.
