I have a folder with over 2GB of files and would like to burn them onto
RW cd disks using Nero 6. Is there a way to have Nero automatically
split the files so it asks for a new CD when one is filled? If not, do
I have to split the files myself? If so, Wht is the best way to do
this?

The question has nothing to do with the OS (which makes it OT here) but
you have two options: you can use an archiving program such as Winzip to
break the file up into manageable pieces and them burn them, or you can
use the Nero Back-It-Up function to do the job. I'm not sure if the
latter option is available in OEM (crippled) versions of Nero.

Thank you. Is there a newsgroup more appropriate? I couldn't find one.
Also, what does OT mean?

I'd just break your data up into sub-folders of approx 500-600 megs each...
then burn each one to a seperate cd. That should be very simple to do unless
you have any files
larger than the capacity of the cd itself (approx 700 megs)

If you have files over 700 megs, you will need to get a file splitter
utility.

Better still...get a DVD burner and you can backup about 4.7 gigs at a time!

Thanks, but a good burn program should do that for you. Perhaps Roxio
splits files.

It means off topic (for THIS particular newsgroup (which is about Windows
XP, the operating system). Try the multimedia newsgroup.

Neither Roxio nor Nero will split the files over multiple CDs
directly. You will need to look that the "included" backup module
(Roxio -- My Backup??, Nero - BackItUp.)

-----------

Au contraire. Roxio automatically splits files across multiple media.
However, the files can only be rebuilt on a machine that has Roxio
installed.
Here's my situation: I have a ton of digital photo files that I want
to preserve on CD media. They would take up about six CDs. I don't
want to split them manually. Yes, I have hard drive backups of all
these files - but my wife insists that they also be on CD. Therefore,
I am looking for the best CD/DVD burner out there that can also span
the files. I don't know what you mean by the files can only be rebuilt
on a machine that has Roxio installed. I just want to copy the files
to the CDs in their JPG format. Is there a simpler way to do this?
Thanks........

Also, what is the exact name of the Roxio ssoftware that you refer to?
I just found out that CompUSA is going out of business and my local
store is having a big sales on everything.

Burn them to a DVD. They should fit on a DVD nicely.
