how 2 identify video ram chips on a graphics card ?

I'm always trying to get a good deal on used graphics cards. I really wish
I had a reference of the part numbers on the common video ram chips so I
could tell how much memory is on the card without having it plugged into my
PC. Does anybody know where I can find a webpage that has information like
that?
