I have set up appointments and wish to categorize them "completed: - when I
set up a series of repeated appointments - then try to mark ONE of them
'done' then the system marks the entire series competed - of course this is
not what is wanted - Any help or alternaive measns of accomplishing this
would be appreciated...

Recurring appointments are not multiple items. They're only one entry in the
calendar and Outlook calculates the recurrences from the starting time and the
recurrence pattern. Categories apply to the original item. The recurrences
are not separate items so they cannot be categorized separately. Depending on
your Outlook version (2003 or earlier), you might be able to do what you seek
with labels.
