Housecall says I have ADWARE_2020SEARCH, but says it can't remove it.
It refers me to to Trend support pages, but this is no help.

Do I have a problem or is it just a dodge to get me to buy their
products? If I have a problem how do I get rid of it?

Thanks for any advice.

If Housecall says it so then it's so. On the job's machine a couple of
times I have ran HC and it found something the host AV couldn't find. In
that situation too, HC couldn't remove it. I found other ways to remove
it, which was sometimes removing it manually.

For non-viral malware...

Please download, install and update the following software...

* Ad-aware SE v1.06
http://www.lavasoft.de/
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
http://www.lavasoft.de/ms/index.htm

* SpyBot Search and Destroy v1.4
http://security.kolla.de/
http://www.safer-networking.org/microsoft.en.html

* SuperAntiSpyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html

After the software is updated, I suggest scanning the system in Safe Mode.

I'd love to remove it manually... if I knew how ! :)

I've googled again leaving out the ADWARE_ bit at the front and it
threw up a lot more hits. I found how to remove it on McAfee pages.

And guess what. It wasn't there. Which may explain why so many of the
hits referred to Trend Micro.

It seems I don't have this problem after all.But I didn't know
Superantispyware, so I'm going to give it a try. Thanks.

download and install SuperAntispyware, it should find the spyware and
remove it without damaging your system. It has a the most robust
scanning engine i have seen, it finds spyware other anti-spyware will
never pick up. Its free as well.
