My son, 11 yrs old, did not realize that when something came acrossed and asked to install, he was installing hotwebsearch.com trash. Well it leads to Porn sites and such. I have searched the Registy and deleted entries for hotwebsearch and trashed all cookies, and after launching IE, it still directs to www.hotwebsearch.com. I have thus gone into security for IE and blocked that site. At least for now, it leaves a blank IE window.
Where do I look to remove the file or something that each time I launch IE, it will stop trying to launch this site.
I have tried to tell IE that I want the 'Homepage' to be something like www.nick.com but after a launch or 2, it reverts back to hotwebsearch.com.
Please help.
Parent in distressed.

go to "tools - internet options" delete all temporary
internet files. all cookies. and clear search history.
if this doesnt work try the following.

CAUTION!!
follow these instructions carefully

click "start" then go to "run" in the run box
type "msconfig"
when the window opens click the startup tab
on the next screen look for any file / registry with the
offensive content. if it is there un check the box next
to it and click apply. CAUTION!! do not click anything in
a windows directory unless you are sure it is the
offensive material.
apply and you will be prompted to restart when you click
ok
that should solve the problem.
