hotsync with palm pilot

I'm having difficulty transferring info from my computer to my palm pilot which is a Sony clie and my computer is also Sony. It said that if there is difficulty and you have a device marked with ! or X the device is not operating properly. I checked that and there is such a notation. It said to contact manufacturer of device to get information on the latest device drivers. Any suggestions?

As mentioned, go to Sony website to download the latest XP compatible drivers for the palm pilot.
Strightly follow the Sony driver update/installation instructions.
