Is it possible to set hotmail to automatically save outgoing messages?

At present its a manual option done by ticking the box underneath the message before you send it

any ideas?

Yup, if you have upgraded to the new hotmail "Live" version it is under options:

Options > More Options > Save sent messages > Tick :)

It is worth upgrading to the Live Beta IMO, as long as you have a broadband connection.

Did you count clicking on options in the top right of the screen as the first click?

It should be a dropdown when you click on options and then "more options" is at the very bottom. You are in the "live" version aren't you?

If that doesn't work I'll make some screen shots :)

think so im using messenger live so...?

is it actually called hotmail live?

screenshots mite b a gud idea give me a comparison mate cheers

Ah thats the problem, messenger live and hotmail live are different - the old hotmail can't do it you see. Once you are logged in to hotmail there should be a button somewhere saying do you want to try the new live beta. You need to click on that first :) You can easily switch back if you don't like it.

This page should let you switch:
