I just checked my hotmail with IE6. After you click the
paperclip for attachment, find your file and click it.
Then in the hotmail page click OK in the upper left hand
corner. Then wait a bit and it should attach and take you
back to mail page. After you send you will see the file
in the attachment line (I sent myself an Email with
attachment to test). If the file is a picture supported
by hotmail it will open up by itself. If you click on
attachment to download it will go to another window and
open on its own accord; it will not give you a download
dialog. So, your savings are maybe limited. If you send
a Word document and click download then you get a normal
download dialog box asking if you want to Save or Open and
where you can save too.
So, hotmail should be OK for you to do.
