I have used my hotmail email address for many years. I have no intention of
changing it! VISTA's Mail does not allow me to use it, so how do I turn
Windows Mail OFF in Vista' or do I have to scrap Vista and go back to XP?

Additional Information: I already use Hotmail "Live" and the Windows "Live"
Mail in Vista. All I receve is a message saying "Microsoft no longer support
HTTP/ web based email such as Hotmail" so I cannot create an "account" for it
in Windows "Live" Mail! Therefore, I need rid of the Windows Mail programme
that is embedded in Windows Vista and keeps butting in every time I try to
send an email!!!

Vista's Email client is Windows Mail.
The web interface accessible via your browser was MSN Hotmail which is
now called Windows Live Hotmail.

Windows Live Mail is a stand alone program that operates in both XP and
Vista.

You cannot rid Vista of its included email application.

You can change the application that acts as the default mail handler in
IE, each mail client, and/or Vista's Control Panel(set your default
options).

If Windows Mail is prompting about no longer supporting Http, for it to
accomplish that task the account or attempted account configuration
would still resides in Windows Mail(open Windows Mail and remove the
account...and if you don't plan to use it, remove the other accounts
too)

Thank you Winston. However, I have already "unticked" Windows mail in my
defaults and ticked "use my current email programme", but it makes no
difference. I do not know how to access the Windows Mail Programme to do as
you suggest as it is not listed in Programmes and what appears when it cuts
in gives no options. There are no accounts set up in this programme as it
will not let me enter my hotmail address. (This is a new installation of
Windows Vista - I did not have Windows Mail in my Windows XP Home edition)
Can you advise how to access Windows Mail to make the changes you Suggest??

Thank you Gary. I tried this but Windows Mail still takes over as I try to
send, and still gives its message that "Web based email is no longer
supported"!!!! In Vista, we now have Microsoft not supporting MSN!! Whatever
next? I think I will just delete the Windows Mail file in Vista and get rid
of this programme. Eddie

To remove active accounts and access to configuration in Vista's Windows
Mail, you have to open Windows Mail.
A shortcut for Windows Mail resides on the program menu.

I'm really sorry but I'm not sure how else to do this. So here goes, I can
not send email because McAfee sends me a message telling me to format my
emails then resend them. I even went to there website 3 times with no luck. I
do not know how to format emails and McAfee doesn't either. LOL I'm really
sorry for not responding to this email but I'm new at this and I can not seem
to post a new thread.
Thank you,
Viv
