While using my internet explorer on certain sites I need
to enter alt + 167 to do certain things. When I enter
alt + 7 on the numpad which I need to do it takes me 2 my
homepage. I went to the internet explorer menu and it told
me it does that but not how to stop it.

PLEASE HELP

Hold down the Alt key the whole time you are pressing 167.

Meanwhile you can use the CharMap tool.

How to Use Special Characters in Windows Documents
This article describes how to use special characters that are available
through the Character Map, and how to manually type the Unicode number to
insert a special character into a document. You can do this to add special
characters to your documents such as a trademark or degree symbol.

ALT + 7 is not a good ascii number.

If at any time you press ALT xx7 and get redirected to your home page then
your keypad key may be damaged. Some dirt under the key etc...

What Encoding are you using?
