hotfix

I have numerious window XPHptfix(spl) see q313450 for more
information. Can these be deleated or are these needed. I
don't know how they got on the computer. It's taking up
quite a bit of memory. Please help. Thanks

Hi, Hotfixes can not take up any memory. They will however take up hard
drive space. Only program that are running are put into RAM (memory).

"Hotfixes" are the updates you installed from the Windows Update
website. Do not be tempted to remove them or you will uninstall
the actual updates.

If you wish to safely remove the "uninstall files" for the
Hotfixes (i.e. $NtUninstallQxxxxxx$ files shown in Windows Explorer)
and cleanup your Add/Remove Programs list, visit MS-MVP Doug Knox's
excellent website for instructions.

These are windows updates that you have downloaded and installed. If you
remove them, you leave yourself open to the vulnerabilities they were
designed to patch.
