Hotfix updates

I am running Vista Home Premium using a P4 CPU 3.73GHz processor - 2 MB Ram -
and a Nvidia GTX 8800 GPU

I have been trying to install Hotfixs from Microsoft which are recommenred
to help games run better - recommendations found on Steam and in PC Mag - the
latest of which is Update for Windows Vista (KB940105)

My problem is that with everyone of these - when they attemp to install I
get the message "The update does not apply to your system"

Can anyone tell me what my problem is?

There are separate downloads available for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of
Vista. Make sure you download the correct one for your system.

Check to make sure the updates aren't already installed. If they are you
will get that message.

Bring up Windows Update and click on installed updates, then look through
the list.
 
nVidia recommends these to everyone, without checking to see if they are
already installed or not. They probably are since they came out on Windows
Updates several months ago. You can fire up the Programs icon in Control
Panel and check the box to show updates to see if it's there - if it's in
the Remove Program list, then it is clearly already installed.
