Hotfix problem/poor performance.

Hello all,
can anyone inform me of any hotfix/windows update that adversly affects win xp performance as I get all the updates and recently my computer has become a bit sluggish, I have thoroughly scanned for viruses, spyware etc no joy. I have it on reasonably good authority that it may be the because of the hotfix installation. Any ideas.
