Hello, I have a system with both Serial ATA and Parallel
ATA enabled (one disk eack), and Windows XP does not see
the Serial ATA drive (among other problems).
I've tried installing this Hotfix which seems to apply:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;812415 but it hangs the system (black screen before the
user login screen).
Has anybody experienced similar problems?

Thanks in advance,

Marco Cecconi

Hi Marco

I'm surprised that you've started a new thread when I thought we were still
dealing with this issue... anyway.. as I've posted previously...

I'd redo the BIOS update and follow-up with a repair install from the XP CD.
If that doesn't work I'd suggest you contact Chaintech who are obviously
aware of issues with SATA since that is what the latest BIOS is said to
resolve.

hope that helps
Pete

Have tried going into safe mode and uninstalling the hotfix to see if this takes
care of your problem?

Reverting to "Last Known Good Configuration" solved the problem (except that
I needed the patch... :-)

Marco.
