"Always ask before opening this type of file" check box in the file download
dialog box does not retain the unchecked setting.............
It would be nice if I could see it before the file downloads.

Date Time Version Size File name

When I go to download a file I dont get the security warning box's, it just
opens...I have to save target as instead, which is fine for me however with
the kids it could be an issue. Any thoughts on a solution?

I'm not sure why it's not retaining your settings but if you can reproduce
it you can report it as a bug if you'd like:

Open Windows Explorer or My Computer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to the file type and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Check the box to Confirm open after download.
