HOTFIX / Automatic Updates

I have dozens of HOTFIXES installed onto my system and get a huge Automatic Update every single day! I have segmented my hard drive into 3 partitions and am losing space because the updates are so big. I don't even know if they're neccessary or if I need them or not. The info says that a security issue has been detected and that's what it's all about

How can I save space on my drive and how do I find out what these automatic updates are! Do I even need them or not!?

Do us a favor and visit :

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

Scan for Updates..

How many critical updates?
How many non-critical?
(Don't get the driver updates - get those from the actual hardware
manufacturer!)

Download and install at least all the critical ones.. You may have several
reboots and revisits to this page before you are done. If you have to go
back to this page more than say.. 6 times to get all the critical updates
(after rebooting in between) then something is wrong - come back and ask
again. =)

You should not be tempted to "uninstall" any "Hotfixes" listed in the
Add or Remove Programs section. They are listed there in the event
your computer does not function properly after they are installed.
Uninstalling them will uninstall the actual patches which were downloaded
and installed from the Windows Update website.

If you wish to safely remove the "uninstall files" for the
Hotfixes (i.e. $NtUninstallQxxxxxx$ files shown in Windows Explorer)
and cleanup your Add/Remove Programs list, visit MS-MVP Doug Knox's
excellent website for instructions.

Remove Hotfix Backup files and the Add/Remove Programs Registry entries
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_hotfix_backup.htm

Note: Doug's program only removes the uninstall files and Hotfix entries
in the Add/Remove Programs listing. It does not remove the
actual updates.
