When I boot up MAS tells me that hobar is trying to
install and would I like to remove it but I know I do not
have it. My systems is clean. I have no viruses or
spyware etc. iI have run Adaware, Spybot, both normally
and in safe mode plus Hijack This comes up with no
problems. Any ideas anyone?

Hola Colin;

Download CCleaner, www.ccleaner.com and remove all
temporarily junk.
Also clean registry with "Issues".

Download/Install Lavasofts Adaware
http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-
8022-10399602.html?tag=list

After install, upgrade Adaware definitions with "Check
for updates".

Restart in safe mode, press F8 during reboot just before
Windows flag screen appears.

Scan with both MSAS and Lavasoft Adaware, choose "full
scªns".

If you are running SP2, open IE--->Tools--->Manage Add-
ons, and uncheck any BHO's that you don't recºgnize.

Good luck

Engel

Thank you Engel. I tried all your suggestions but the
warning still appears. It only pops up when I log on my
account after my daughter has been on MSN Messenger and
the Internet. Any more ideas?

I have been using Trend Micro for sometime. It gives my
machine a clean bill of health!

Hello Colin,

did you try the trail of Trend AntiSpyware? (The link i send)
Did you get rid of Hotbar?

Regards >*< TOM >*<

Thanks again Tom. I have none of the registry entries
listed to remove. I am begining to think that the
spyware program is confusing something else for Hotbar as
I just can't find any evidence of Hotbar on my system.
Is this possible? Thank you again for your suggestions.

Colin

Hi Tom,

Yes, used that tool - reported no hotbar!

MSAS does not find hotbar when scanning.

My daughter does have her own set of settings on the
computer.

Hello Colin,

did you run Adaware SE on her account and is Ccleaner also working on
her account? Set Ccleaner to clean automatic at startup!
I am out of suggestions and just install'd hotbar on my system to find
out if i got rid of it! ;)

Regards >*< TOM >*<

Hello Colin,

i just install hotbar and just uninstall it from ad/remove programs,
then i did a scan with msas and let ccleaner clean the register and i am
clean now, just did a other scan and nothing pop's up, so maybe you can
install hotbar again (exit MSAS) and install and uninstall it to get rid
of it!

Hi Tom

I installed a keylogger within your PC ;)

No just joking.....;) I mean with your Hotbar test.
Testing can be really good to learn more about these
pests, as you maybe remember I did this maybe
totally crasy/stupid test.

And I´m not working for TM ;) just a fan for
a great program. TM2006 is great !.

Maybe I can uninstall MSAS soon and let TM handle all protection ;)

Hi Plun,

most of the time people are bringing in there PC here to clean them out,
