My wife being unknowledgable of internet and pop ups,
accedently installed a program called " Hotbar" it adds a
fancy serch engine link under your address bar, well, this
program also was using 98mb ram for some reason. I still
dont know why, but anyway i C-A-Del agian and looked on my
processes tab to see the name of the program running so i
could serch it in the File Find, well i found it, it was
called " Hotbar" so i tried to delete it it said unable
to del , program in use blah blah blah. I was pretty
upset. i noticed a old demo download had in my doc's and
tried to delete that same thing, i tried a mp3 , said smae
thing. i dont know what to do, and i really dont feel like
doign a fresh install, if you have any idea what to do
please pelase email me. thanks

Start Windows in "Safe Mode". You can do this by rebooting your
computer, and after the BIOS screen clears (the memory counter) and
Windows starts loading, press F8, and find "Load Windows in Safe
Mode". You should be able to delete hotbar.

The reason this should work is that it seems Hotbar has already been
loaded at startup. When your computer starts, it loads tens of
megabytes to your RAM, such as system programs, drivers, libraries,
etc, making these programs protected from modification or deletion.
Safe Mode loads only the minimum required programs needed for XP to
start, no more.
