Hi,

I'm interested in implementing dynamic drives in server 2000 (And
eventually svr 2003) and am wondering how well it support hot swapping
drives.

A primary concern is the ability to remove half a RAID 1 array at night for
offsite storage and put it back into the server in the morning without
having to restart the server.

Any views or experiences would be great,

Ryan

RAID 1 does not work in the way you want to use it. Look for a backup
solution instead, either using external hard disks or a tape recorder.

Not only that, the solution doesn't even sound logical to me. What is it
you're afraid of happening at night that you know will never happen during
the day? I would think in effect you've actually made matters worse if a
tornado or hurricane or earthquake comes at 3:00pm because you've relied on
that drive and not a "real" offsite backup, and the "backup" drive would be
destroyed right along with the other half of the mirror.
