I like to listen to CDs while on my computer - using earphones.

Yesterday when ejecting the CD I found that the disc was hot - not just
warm.
Also noticed the small room that my computer in was getting very warm
(although it was a very humid evening).

Any suggestions about this problem please? I would not be happy for my

computer to go up in smoke

Thanks, KopyKat

Mechanical and electrical devices generate heat. The computer will ADD to
the ambient air temp that it draws into the case.

Cool the room = cool the computer.

You might examine the system for dust buildup. This can reduce the
efficiency of the coooling devices in the computer and increase the amount
of heat buildup. This both heats the room and shortens the life of the
components.

Do *not* use a vaccuum to remove dust. Get a can of compressed air, open
the case, take it outside and blow the dust out. Pay attention to the
vents, fan blades and heat sinks.

Remember, they call it BURNING a CD for a reason. Even
reading a CD uses a laser.

Air conditioning is good for people and computer comfort.

Thanks everybody for all the info. As I am not skillful enough to take
my pc apart - because I might not get it together again
I am having to get a local man in to look at it for me.

Good grief, so many suggestions for a non problem. I didn't see any that
would hurt anything, but ... in general, a CD being hot isn't unusual,
especially in warm weather. It wouldn't hurt to do the recommended fixes,
varied as they are, but it's probably just plain not necessary.
