Jim

I have the following entries in my Host file:

127.0.0.1 pointroll.com
127.0.0.1 www.pointroll.com

Just the same, it does not prevent the following cookie from showing up in
my Cookies folder. Why is this not blocked out? This is happening on my
account and other users on my Windows XP Pro machine using IE6

Mike,

Thank you. I have been using the hosts. file available on the mvps.org
site. I have pasted your suggestions into this file since Ad-aware is now
reporting pointroll.com in its search.

Henri,

An interesting comment. I certainly would like to eliminate this behaviour.
Not being familiar with how to close the door could you please elaborate on
steps I might take to close the ports?

I have followed the steps from the http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
web page and I still have the same cookies being identified by Ad-Aware. I
also have a Dlink router as a firewall.

| With the HOSTS file you will not go to that site. But your door (port) is
| open and they can get in your computer.

Jim,
"I still have the same cookies being identified by Ad-Aware"
Which ones? They show up in AWW as: "somesite.txt"

Jim,
"Ad-aware is now reporting pointroll.com in its search"
Yup ... those entries were added to my HOSTS file and will be included in
the next update.
