Hosts File - Access denied

I tried to edit my Hosts file as a webpage would not open up, and I
found the Hosts file was blocking it. However, I could not save the
edit, and was given the message 'access denied'. i had a look at the
security for the file, and administrators have full control, and I am
logged on as an administrator.

In the end I tried editing the Hosts file in Safe Mode, and then the
problem disappeared. Any reasons why I could not edit in normal mode?

Malware? Or perhaps some security/anti-hijack software you have installed?
