Lets say I have a flightsim, like Falcon4 or MSFS2004. I want to be able to
set up a 24/7 game server that can:
- restart the game or reboot the computer
- and invoke the flightsim and set up the GUI necessary to select the
multiplayer connection information
- and start the game in its server mode (non graphical interface)

How does one do all this with only having the game, hardware and WindowsXP?
What else is necessary, and can this be done with any application?

Hi Flightsimmer,

What you want to do can be accomplished as follows:

- Setup a dedicated server for the game (see the game's readme)
or use the game's built in Multiplayer engine to host games 24/7;

- Launch the dedicated server using switches if applicable by
adding the shortcut to the server's startup group;

- If the game doesn't provide an avenue to launch itself into the
appropriate multiplayer mode to host the server, download a
macro program from downloads.com which can do that for you;

- You might want to setup remote administration of the machine,
just in case you need to make adjustments to your system remotely;

- The above applies in general to applications as well as games, but
requires a reasonable amount research and preparation to get started. :-)
