I currenty have a W2k server that is hosting our external DNS for our website
etc. The server is not a Domain controller and does not need to be at the
moment. I want to do a clean install of W2k3 on this server, how can I move
the external DNS to another W2K server and then back to the upgraded server
with W2k3 installed without any downtime for Internet users of our website.

Create a secondary zone on the other DNS, transfer the data, then convert it
to Primary. Then all you need to do is change the NATed mapping. This will
be close to zero downtime, just the time during the mapping change. So it
depends on your router, if you can just change the mapping or if you have to
delete the mapping and create a new one.

thank you for your quick reply and help.
