Host Process has stopped working

Does anyone have a cure for this problem? I get this message almost
every time I go online. I've searched the web with no definate
results. Windows says it's because I need an updated HP printer
driver. Not so. I don't have a printer installed. Iit's a real pain in
the a**. I'm running a HP Pavillion DV 6871 laptop with 3gb and Vista
SP1. TIA.

Hi,

By "go online" do you mean as soon as the system connects to a network or
when you open a web browser? How about other online applications, do they
cause this problem?

What I mean is when I'm using the internet. It doesn't happen when I
start but, it happens almost every time I'm on the internet. Even when
no other known programs are running. It doesn't seem to have any
effect other than maybe slowing down the inernet speed for a short
time. Sometimes it will happen twice in one session. Go figure! It's
more an inconcience than anything else.

You didn't answer any of my questions. Define what you mean by "using the
internet". In addition, what type of connection do you have? Dial-up? Cable?
DSL? Is it an "always on" type?

I thought I answered your question. It happens after I open my web
browser. As I said, as far as I know no other programs are running
when it happens. I have hi-speed internet with Qwest, which is DSL.

Hi Walt,

If the problem occurs when you open your web browser, then it's more than
likely a plugin/addon issue. For IE, click on tools/manages addons and
disable those loading with IE until the problem stops. For other browsers,
check their help files for instructions on disabling or removing plugins.
