Cant connect via remote desktop, also cant get port 3389 to open
DLink D1-604
Set the port up, but when I scan the open ports, it is not there.?
Set to Both
Also if I understand this right, you have to enter the IP of the router
itself, not the machine, is this correct?

Yes, call the public IP of the router, ie. the IP assigned by your ISP. As far as opening TCP Port
3389, look at this help page from D-Link...

http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1324

How are you testing this? You can *NOT* call the public IP from a PC inside your network and connect
to another PC on your network. You need to be at a remote location or use a dialup connection to
test. You can only test over your local network using the private LAN IP of the host PC.

So If I want to connect thru the Internet to my office from home, I use the
office Router IP WAN IP ?,
NOT the LAN IP? Is this correct?
I can easily control either at home or the office one PC from another using
Remote Desktop, just not away from the network.
