I would like to be able to connect to the office compter,
which has DSL. (A router is being used. I have been
told I can not connect because of router.) I have cable
modem. My other options would be to dial in, but I would
have to share the same line as their fax machine. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If your trying to use Remote Desktop then forward/open TCP Port 3389 through the router to the
private LAN IP of the target PC. Call using the public IP of the router.

I connect through my router to my home computer so i dont
see why you cant. Make sure that you have port 3389 open
and directed to your computers IP address.

Can you tell me how to access ports, so I can open it.
Also, do i use the ip address I address to the computer
or do I use the IP addressess to the router.
Are there any other settings I need to change or make
sure each computer has. On the office desktop, do I
stay logged on or do I need to log off when i leave for
the day, so I can log in from home?

Both replies were greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You need to read your Router manual on how to "Forward" ports.

After you forward port 3389 to the machine you connect to. Use the
Router's IP. The Port forwarding will redirect the packets to your machine.

What router do you have? Some routers call this "Port Forwarding" or "Virtual Servers"...
