OK, I have windows XP on the host computer. The wireless router and
the printer is connected to this host computer. When I look on the
computers near me in the host computer, it shows host computer and
second computer. I can access internet, and print. The printer is set
up to share.

Second computer, is Windows 2000 pro, spf4. It is connected to the
network, is able to get internet connection no problem. However, when
I look on the computers near me, the host computer doesn't show up.
Also, I can't add a printer on the network. It says it doesn't find a
printer. Printer software is on this second computer.

HELP!

Hi -
You should probably post in microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web; this
isn't really the best group for your question. This isn't a DNS issue. This
is probably a NetBIOS issue.

In your post, include the answers to the following, along with any other
pertinent details:

Is NetBIOS enabled on both computers? (It needs to be if you want to
browse.)
Is the Computer Browser service started on both PCs?
No software firewall running that might be blocking the traffic?
Are they both in the same workgroup?
Is the printer shared?
Are other folders shared?
What's your wireless config?
Can you ping each machine from the other, first by IP and then by name?

And a few other issues as well:
Is it HP Home or XP Pro? (Home edition will not properly share files, but will
browse network)
Is NetBEUI loaded on the win2000 machine? XP does not include NetBEUI by
default, and uses NetBIOS over TCP/IP instead.

Home will certainly share files. You just can't disable Simple File Sharing.
And it won't browse the network if NetBIOS over TCP/IP is disabled :)

You do not need NetBEUI. Very few computers (legacy apps, etc) need NetBEUI.
I never install it.
