I have a home network with 3 computers. The main (host)
computer is running windows XP, the other 2 have win 98SE
on them. When my sons computer joins the network, the
host computer starts to dial my internet connection. I
have an internal modem with a dial up connection to AOL.
I DO NOT want my other computers to access the internet
(at least not yet!). I can't figure out what is making my
computer dial out. I've checked everything I can think of
on my sons computer to no avail....
My daughters computer is just fine. Hers can be on all
day long and my computer will never dial out unless I want
it to.
Can anyone help me out????

Also, when my daughters computer comes on, it doesn't ask
for a password and doesn't log on to the network. I have
to log off and log on with my password and then I can
access the network.....Which is exactly the way I want
it. My sons computer however asks for a user name and
password as soon as you turn it on, and then it jumps
right on the network. I'd like to get it to work the way
my daughters does, but can't seem to fix that problem
either.

Do you have Intenet C0onnection Sharing, on anty of the
machines? If ICS is on the XP Machine then, tell it not
to allow other users to dial the shared conneciton. This
should stop this problem. It means that you will have to
connect to the net before the other machines can access
it

Internet connection sharing is NOT enabled. As a matter
of fact, I can't even get to that option, as I have AOL
and it won't even let me access it's properties.
