Which command to use?
When to use which one

NSLookup, for all it's warts is ubiquitous on modern
Windows machines (you may have to locate it for Win9x).

Host is not a Windows built-in tool.

William suggests dig and netdig; good advice but they aren't
always available as NSLookup is on WinNT 4+ systems.
...and examples?

What do you wish to accomplish or is this related to a homework
question?

Examples:
nslookup www.learnquick.com
nslookup -q=ns learnquick.com
nslookup -q=mx learnquick.com
