Due to excessive use of the computer and no school work, I deleted my
daughter's account on XP. She conned her little brother into giving his
password and at night deleted my entire account and changed his password.
Needless to say, she is denying this and wont hand over a password...and the
longer it goes on the less likely she will admit it...what can I do? I need
to recover photos and docs desperately ....there is no available cash for
repair and hope not to do a whole clean install and lose this info!!!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!PLEASE!!!!!

You daughter could not have deleted the administrator account.
Reboot and enter safe mode.
Login as administrator.
Recreate accounts, etc.
Then, configure your kids' accounts as Restricted Users.

I would start by beating the child, as my parents use to beat me - when I
screwed up. It may not help the situation but it sure makes you feel a lot
better! Bruise her body. Bruise her soal. Show her that YOU, the wimp, are in
charge of HER life. She is not in charge of yours!

Ignore the "parental" advice given by the eTards who don't realize this
isn't a forum discussing parental issues, but a technical one.

You can boot your computer into safe mode and log in to the
administrator account. If you have windows XP Home this account has no
password. Simply click on it and hit enter. When in, go to the user
accounts. Delete what accounts you no longer want on the machine and
create a new one for you. Set any accounts other than yours to be
Limited Account types. Set a password on your account(!!!) so they can't
use your account to add users. Make sure when you walk away from the
computer that you log off first. They will no longer be able to modify
user accounts on your computer, but you still will. Keep your password
safe in your head.

Thanks for repeating my answer.
Your vast knowledge is indeed humbling.

Make sure that you change the logon procedure so that all
accounts are required to enter a password, and make all
other accounts restricted, else they have the same
authority you do.
