Made a short test movie using my Sony TRV-260 and transfered it to the
computer, using the High Quality setting.
Imported the file into WMM to view it and the picture quality is horrible!
All blotchy and dark and grainy.

I checked the to see if the Sony driver is installed and it is.

I realize I haven't give much information, but any ideas what I need to
change to solve my problem?
Any web sites for problem solving?

Hello,

If you are viewing the preview window that would explain the poor
quality....Preview = Low resolution = only suitable for seeing roughly where
you are and what effects or transitions will do to your video. When you click
FILE > SAVE MOVIE FILE....you will get a better rendition if you choose an
output format that is better than the preview mode.

As we were telling you before, and I posted a comment on
your previous post, bring it in via firewire (DV-AVI).
Then save movie at what level you need for your
application (ie web). Here's a link to amazon for the card

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-

You might find it cheaper somewhere else.

After you save your movie, view it where you plan on
viewing it. Meaning bring it up in WMP if you are showing
on PC etc. As JK says, don't go by the preview as it is
lower res.

Hi Steve,

My problem is solved! I bought a Firewire card and cable, installed it and
transferred a small video clip from the camcorder to the computer. Quality
looks great!
The tech at the computer store told me USB puts a drain on the CPU, whereas
Firewire doesn't. That's the reason Firewire works better for streaming
video. If you're transferring still pics from a digital camera, USB will
work fine.
You learn something everyday, huh.....
Now I can get busy and make a movie....
