Hi - I'm new to PC ownership. Is there a way of correcting having to
constantly scroll horizontally because website pages are often too wide for
my screen? I did not have this problem when I was using Windows 98 SE...
only now that I am using Windows XP. Thank you. Herbert

Herbert, this predicament has nothing to do with Win98 vs WinXP. The width
of the web page is determined by the page author. If they have planned
poorly and dictate a fixed width instead of allowing it to wrap to the
reader's screen, you will get horizontal scrollbars for pages that are too
wide for your screen.

One setting that you might try is to allow resizing of images: Internet
Options> Advanced: In the Multimedia section, check the box to enable
automatic image resizing.

Also, check your desktop size in Display Properties. Compare it to what you
were using in Win98. If your current hardware (monitor and display
adapter), support a larger desktop, consider changing it as more page
content can then be displayed in a single browser window.
