Assuming you created that line with an Autoshape, did you look at your
Format Autoshape settings?

How can I draw a Horizontal line with a desired length in Microsoft
Word?

(If you press ---<Enter>, there will be a line accross the page, but I
want the line with a desired length)

Thank you.

The auto entered line created by autoformat as you type is a border. To draw
a line of a given length you need the line drawing tools from the drawing
toolbar (Insert shapes in Word 2007). You can save the line as an
autotext/autocorrect entry for ease of repetition.

Thank you.

My requirement is to type some text and underline it, but the lin
should go beyond the text; for example if the text is 3cm length, th
"underline" should go upto 5cm. (Like the same I will have multipl
lines). Using autoshape seems messy and difficult to place where w
want.

Are there any other ways?

Thank you

I have to ask, what kind of document are you creating where someone is going
to measure your underline?

I think you have misunderstood my reply with cm measurements,
mentioned this to explain my requirements but not to exactly measureth
lengths of the lines.

Thank you
