Alka Seltzer - that's the one :)

Don't touch Alka Seltzer if you have tummy problems. It contains Aspirin and was originally brought out as a painkiller. The "alka" bit refers to the Sodium Bicarb in it, which is a mild antacid, but often the bad effects of the Aspirin overpower it. ;)

That wuz just a light-hearted quip, as if Alka Seltzer would work for gastro-enteritis  So literal, some folks...

But if we must be all grown up and sensible then I will say that when I've taken a hangover cure then Alka Seltzer was about the only one that ever worked for me. Different strokes for different folks you see, all of our body makeups are different to a degree.

Having said that, I haven't taken a hangover cure for at least ten years now, I just don't get 'em like I used to, probably cos I'm grow'd up and clever now :)

oh, and shake a leg Zed :D

Hope all goes ok CaptainZed.
If your unlucky it could be a probe up the old back door!

Update : after a chest and stomach xray they discovered two unexplained blockages in me guts. So now Theyre gonna give me a depth charge called flagyl and then a CT scan in the morning to see if there's owt untoward going on. Hope they dont need the dlsr.

you do not swallow the whole beer cans to drink beer ... open can, pour liquid down throat, throw can away. :D

Here's hoping that the "depth charges" will have the desired effect Cap'n  ...failing that, maybe one of those miniaturised subs (as in the film "Fantastic Voyage") would do the trick... :p Feel better soon, we're all thinking of you.

Its two nights in so far. Private is no faster than nhs once you're admitted. Food is great though, lol

Is that it? Is that the difference between nhs and private? The food? Cardboard or something vaguely resembling real food?

Sheesh.

Get well soon Mr Dublin ;)

All the best Capt, hope you get better veeery soon.Keep your pecker up (What ever that means)

Well feckit, your prediction came true......this is now day 6 in hospital. Apparently there are some inner issues.
In the x-rays there appeared to be 2 blockages in my lower intestine. These "blockages" were due to a large infection on 2 of the bands on the intestine wall. These so called blockages turned out to be just swollen bands which swelled that much that they wouldn't allow anything to move through the intestines. The infection caused inflammation which caused all the cramping and wos name. So they eventually upped periscope just to be sure that there were no big nasties and now i'm on two different types of antibiotic and yesterday i started on steroids. Its a really big dose too and it will be for about 4-5 weeks everyday.
Hopefully i will be let home on saturday. Then i have to go back to work which i'm dreading cos of all the meds i'm on.
Never a dull moment.

Well despite all that you've been going through, you still have your sense of humour... "upped periscope" Well despite all that you've been going through, you still have your sense of humour... "upped periscope" indeed!!

Hope the heavy-duty meds will do the trick for you so that your plumbing gets back to normal very soon. Couldn't you persuade your employers (and Drs) to be generous and give you a bit more time off to recover..?

Take care and all the very best to you Cap'n. :D
