After 25 years I am finaly going to quit working with
these thing and start playing . I would like to hook up
a amplifier to my computer so I can play sounds from my
computer directly.
Hardware is dell 2400 demension, Sony surrond sond and
speakers. What will I have to do or do I need more
hardware.
Any help will be apreciated

Depends on what kind of setup coming out of the computer. Some computers
have digital audio outputs that can be pluged directly into a digital audio
input on a stereo. However, more likely is that you have a combination of
audio jacks coming out of your computer for full surround (if you sound card
supports that). Your amp will have to have more then one set of inputs in
this case for each of the channels. Your best bet is probably to buy the
3.5mm (I think) male headphone style output cables that branch into to two
male A\V analog jacks. One of the A\V jacks for each channel. So if you
say had a 5.1 suround out of the back of your computer, and you amp could
have that many inputs you'd need three of these cables. BTW, if you do it,
it works great. I love having a real system hooked up to mine especially
when watching movies or wanting peaceful music to listen to completely
surrounding me.
