Hi there

I have an Internet account using HomePna card connected to a phone
line, and it has worked fine until our family bought another computer.
Now, the Internet connection works only from one computer at a time,
not simultaneously from both computers. Our ISP says it should work
without any specific and additional network devices, but for some
reason, this does not work for us.

The other PC is win98, and the other one XP. Both have HomePna card.
It appears that the XP takes over, i.e., when the win98 connection is
on, and if the XP is started up, it disables the win98 connection, and
if the XP connection is enabled, the 98 connection does not work.

Have we missed something? Should we have specific network devices and
or software, i.e., what kind of setup is required so that both
computers could access Internet simultaneously? Should the other one
act as a server, or could both access the Interned simultaneously and
even if the other one is shut down (this works now, but not if both
PCs are started up).

Any help is greatly appreciated

Have you setup Internet Connection Sharing(ICS) on the connection
properties.
I wonder how you can share your internet connection without any setup.

See www.winproxy.com or www.wingate.com or setup ICS.

Thanks Madhur, it appeared to be be a problem with the phone jack, the
connection does not always work if the phone is connected to the same
wall jack with the computer. We have many phone jacks and the
computers are connected to their own jacks with analogue phones, and
they both have unique IP, so basically, we don't need ICS or anything,
it just took some time to realise this.
