I have a problem on a 2nd PC running win 2000 with the rollup updates which
has a problem with I.E. homepage. It has a 2 http//: in the URL and I can't
get it to update to a current homepage when I type in the URL from the
start run menu. I have tried clearing the cache, backspacing over the url
in the homepage setup, and it will not default to the default homepage
either. I turned off the PC and unplugged the power and still no go. I even
did a regedit and looked for the URL which of course didn't show up.
WIN 2000 I.E. version 6.02800.1106 sp1.
Firefox works fine but I have no idea how to clear out the homepage garbage
in IE. Any ideas??

Are you running any software that prevents changing the home page? Plenty of
security software applications include this ability to prevent malware from
changing the home and search URLs in IE - unfortunately they also prevent
the user from doing so too unless they can work out how to temporarily
disable the option.

Good point Dan but I disabled Spyware Blaster and Spybot Search & Destroy
as well as antivirus and Zone alarm all to no avail. I actually removed
Spyware blaster and Spybot just to make sure. Something appears to be
corrupted but I not sure how to correct problem. I use Firefox as my main
browser and IE works other than this weird homepage problem.
Thanks for the response.

I noticed the other posts about Homepage problems and the solution was to
uninstall Zone Alarm. Guess I will re install older vesion.
