All of a sudden my homepage, which used to be www.google.com, changed
to www.google.de. I try to change it in internet settings and no joy,
it simply pops back to google.de.

I scanned for viruses, spyware, etc, also no joy.

I checked the registry, everything still says google.com.

Anyone else have this problem?

Regards

Thanks PA Bear. I have cleared every cache I can find and still
experiencing the same problem.

Also read every post I can find concerning the issue. Searche for
hosts files, looked at the registry, you name it.

Still a mystery.

If you change it to www.google.com but it reverts to www.google.de when you
reopen IE or reboot: One or more options/settings in an ever-growing number
of third-party applications may be disallowing the change(s) from
"sticking". These include but are not limited to Ad-aware's Ad-Watch, Spybot
Tea Timer, SpywareBlaster, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor, Norton AntiVirus,
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware, and Zone Alarm (Free and Pro).

If you can't change your homepage at all (i.e., the option is greyed out):
Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

~Robear:

I don't use Google for my home page, but everytime I tried to log on to
Google from my home pc, it was the .es (spanish) version. I did a lot of
research in forums and Google, and discovered it is a Google problem,
misreading the location of your IP address. They said to contact Google
support with the problem, and would try to fix it.

So, I contacted them, they said they would look into it and try to correct
it. About two weeks later, all was fine.
