Sorry, I asked a similar question the other day but didn't get a definite
answer! Would someone be wiling to install Vista Home Premium on a dual-core
test machine to see if it will work? According to what I've read, only
Ultimate supports two processors

Thanks!

I have a HP M7470N which has a dual-core processor. I have tested ALL VISTA
releases up to 5600 which is the one I am running now. What would you like
to know. One of the builds was a Premium, I don't remember any major
problems. This 5600 is very stable, super fast. Now I have a question, You
have a state of the art computer (right), so why would you want to buy a OS
say Premium, when you for a few ++++ dollars more, get the Ultimate?

Yes it will work. All Vista versions support dual-core processors. Not
all Vista versions support more than one separate processor.

A dual core CPU is one processor. As is a quad core with hyperthreading.
Count the sockets, not the cores.

Physical Processors are the only thing Microsoft records.
A dual core system is a single physical processor, thus it would work fine.
