Hi Mate About Blank in itself isnt a problem its a
setting from internet options but theres a Trojan called
about:blank that uses this to redirect you to whatever
sites it wants.

So we need to establish if you have the wrong setting or
if you have a infection on your pc.

Open a Internet Browser and on the top bar choose tools
then go to internet options,

On this screen you will see the home page address and
three options (Use Current) (Use Default) or (Use Blank)

If its set to use blank then anytime you open a I.E.
window it will say about blank so check this first and
press the default button or enter whichever search engine
you want to use(Google.com/yahoo.com etc..)

Then we can find out if there's a more serious problem
once you have tried this if it keeps returning to about
blank this is a problem and is connected to a trojan but
lets be positive for now,Repost once you have tried these
settings.

I have posted removal methods abit further down about
removing the about:blank trojan but like plun pointed out
there's new variants being made so it can get tricky but
lets hope you just need to set your internet home page to
fix this

Regards Andy

First, if you don't have WinXP SP2, get LSP-Fix - a free program to repair
damaged Winsock 2 stacks
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
save it because you might need to repair the Winsock 2 stacks after removing
the culprit.
For WinXP SP2 this command will restore the Winsock stacks if you can't
connect after clearing the malware.
Go to Start | Run and type
CMD
In the command window type
netsh winsock reset

Then get CWShredder
http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html

I second that question. I have tried Microsoft Anti-
spyware, Norton, and even spy subtract to no avail. I
watch as my explorer pages change almost immediately
after I change them in the "Explorer Bar Reset" section
of Microsoft Anti-spyware.

Any help is appreciated.
