While editing my LOCAL home page in Front Page, I saved
the page and got the Front Page message box with Error
Reading File. All 300 pages of Local web site still open
and function, but not the home page (index). Unable to
resolve, so downloaded copy from WWW, but local copy still
gets same message.

Ran "remove errors" in Front page to no avail.

Why wont the WWW copy overwrite the index page with good
version? How can I correct this and open the home page.

On the live site directly in FP, then see if you can open the home page, if
so, then copy and paste into your local copy of the web, after you have
deleted the local copy.

And before you open FP find and delete all FP Temp files and the FP web cache files (*.web)
Then open FP and run a tools recalculate hyperlinks

Send us the URL. Does this page have an extension other than .htm or
..html? I can't open .shtml files from my local drive but can get to
and then edit .shtml files by navigating from links on other .html
pages.
